Most explorers for the day get as far as the Saddle, with a view of Boreray, Stac Lee and An Armin (The Warrior).

In July 1840 on Stac An Armin the last Great Auk in Britain was finally killed. Three St Kildans were on the stac at that time and caught a peculiar "garefowl" with tiny wings and a white spot on it's head. They tethered it and kept it alive for 3 days. Then the weather turned nasty, and the auk started to act in a strange manner. Deciding it must be a witch, they bludgeoned it to death with a stick.
